Animals have always taken spiritual roles in most of the religions world-wide; some are portrayed as divine and revered while some are believed to be maleficent but whatever the case humans have always shared a beneficial relationship with these creatures that do not speak of which evolutionarily some are more ancient than even humans, on a civilizational perspective we have learned, farmed, transported through them before the machines took over and we have even satisfied our hunger; we are on a verge were because of us these ancient tutors are on a verge of extinction because of our greed and impractical and unsustainable solutions to our mostly stupid lives. Now may I come to my point, many won’t see or understand this situation because of their pocketed lives but the large minded would consider the possibility of all-inclusiveness.
Now to meet spirituality and my point; Rishabha or the Bull is a mighty icon in many religions; in Jainism it is the symbol of their 1st Tirthankara, Bible is the abbreviation of Bi-Bull meaning the two bulls and in Hinduism it is the Vahana of Shiva and represents “DhaRma” itself which is the most important aspect of human life. The 4 legs of the bull are considered as the 4 pillars of Dharma namely Cleanliness, Austerity, Mercy and Truthfulness; the hindu scriptures proclaim that the Universe is preserved with Dharma and in this way it becomes that cause where the entire manifestation is being centered around and a factor that even predated the current universe, manvantara, yuga or whatever name which you seem comfortable with; but in Hinduism The yugas or cycles of time of which the comparison to us makes us so miniscule is said to be a bull. In the first yuga the bull stands on all 4 legs ie. Cleanliness, Austerity, Mercy and Truthfulness; And in the last of the yugas that is the present Kali Yuga the bulls legs are diminished to just a single leg of truthfulness and in Kaliyuga Dharma relies solely on Truthfulness and Kali Purusha is depicted as a person beating up this remaining leg of DhaRma.
Now to its universality; The religions whatever they be, had an original intention of protecting this bull of DhaRma and making this cosmic DhaRmic bull rejuvenate through numerous means abnali-Yuga; in short the Bull is to be worshipped.
